Well of course it's a reference to that great mid-eighties alien invasion series with the title of the same letter. It's one of Kata'a favourites and he tries to work in as many subliminal tributes to it as he can in his stories...
Lets all go back, have a re-read, and see how many other things that he might have slipped in surreptitiously.

It was simply a scar that couldn't be attributed to combat or a casual accident, however I believe "V for Vixen" was floating around somewhere in the back of my mind.
