“From the Wings” is a piece of fan fiction inspired by the works of Eric Schwartz, Chris Yost, James Brunner, and others. It’s also a bit of a ‘Peter John’ story in that my main male protagonist is based rather much on myself at the age of 25 (::G:: let’s not go into how long ago that was). After talking matters over with Chris as to which female supporting characters were “available”, I went for the character who most appealed to my tastes (at age 25 or now).
The title of the overall story derives from the profession of my main male protagonist and from the drawing of an existing secondary character into a primary role. The title for the first story arc, “Rendezvous, Formate, & Link”, covers the basic set of maneuvers required for two aerospace vehicles to link up; this seemed an appropriate title for the story of how two strangers meet, get to know each other, and link up.
